Manoj Sood (born May 5, 1962) is a Kenyan Canadian film and television actor. Manoj immigrated with his family to Canada in 1964 when he was 18 months old. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Later, he went to filming school in St Michaels University School in Victoria, BC.

Life and career

Manoj Sood was born in Mombassa, Kenya but grew up in Western Canada. Manoj entered the entertainment world in 1994 and has been working steadily for the past 12 years. Manoj, much to his surprise, landed a supporting role in an American MOW after his very first audition. Up until then his only acting experience had been from his acting classes.

Since that day Manoj has appeared in more than 40 television and feature film productions. He has appeared on popular television shows like Da Vinci's Inquest, The Dead Zone, Romeo!, Little Mosque on the Prairie and Dead Like Me as well as numerous others. Manoj has also acted in popular films such as Meltdown (2004) (TV) and Rat Race (2001).

Manoj has been a passionate fly fisherman and amateur astronomer since he was a child; when he's not acting he is fly-fishing with his son or gazing into the universe with his telescope.


Brother of actress Veena Sood.

Attended St Michaels University School in Victoria, BC.

Grew up in Calgary, Alberta.

Avid fly fisherman and fly tier since he was 10 years old.

Immigrated to Canada in 1964 when he was 18 months old.

Is a well known amateur astronomer, a hobby he has been passionately involved in since age 12.

Son, Kama born May 6, 1998.

Often plays Arab-Muslim characters, although Manoj is himself of East Indian Hindu descent.
