Chanelle Scott Calica (born 25 December 1983), better known by her stage name Shystie, is an English female rapper-songwriter and actress. Her mother was born and raised in Barbados and her father born and raised in Grenada making her heritage West-Indian. She grew up in Hackney, East London.[1] Shystie started gaining fame in 2003 with her white label response to Dizzee Rascal's "I Luv U"[1] and a tour with Basement Jaxx, The Streets and 50 Cent which led to her being scooped up by major label Polydor. She is also the leading actress in the television series Dubplate Drama.

Debut album - Diamond in the Dirt

Shystie's debut album, Diamond in the Dirt was released in the UK only in 2004 by Polydor.

Shystie's first single was "One Wish" which peaked on its first week on the UK Singles Chart at number 40,[2] having no main stream radio or music channels support aside Channel U and MTV Base. The B-Side was "One Wish Remix" featuring Kano and produced by Terror Danja. Her second single was "Make It Easy" and the B-side was "Juiced"; it charted at number 57[2] Shystie's debut album went on to sell 60,000 copies across the UK, the same year Shystie was nominated for 'Best Newcomer' at the MOBO Awards.[3]

In 2005 Shystie featured in the computer game with her own character, 'Juiced', released worldwide in multiple formats.[4] She also recorded a track and accompanying video entitled 'Juiced' which was featured on the games soundtrack and her album.

Kidulthood

In March 2006, Shystie had two songs, 'One Wish' and 'Womans World' featured in the box office hit in feature film 'Kidulthood'.

Adulthood

In June 2008, Shystie played the role of 'Lisa' in the film Adulthood which went on to become a number 1 UK box office hit. Adulthood is the sequel to Kidulthood' which she wrote the theme song 'Arms Open Wide' which featured on the Adulthood Soundtrack'.

Sket

In Sept 2011 Shystie wrote the theme song for the feature film 'Sket' along with having 4 other songs in the film.

illegal Activity

In March 2012, Shystie played the role of Toya in the short film illegal Activity which premiered at the Bafta HQs.

Synopsis: illegal activity is an action-packed drama set in a rough housing estate in London, yet nothing on the block is quite how it seems. We follow Winston a street level dealer and his crew for one day, witnessing the devastating effect their trade has on the block. Society is crumbling, families unravel and desperation causes internal conflict. The need to satisfy this addiction before it spirals out of control. Police are closing in and are determined to infiltrate the hierarchy in an attempt to put a stop to this Illegal Activity.

Recent Activity

In April and July 2011 Shystie released two mix tapes entitled, 'You're Welcome' and 'Blue Magic', in Sept Shystie modelled for UK designer Nasir Mazhar at London Fashion Week, in Oct 2011 she wrote the theme song for UK feature film 'Sket' along with 4 other songs. In March 2012 Shystie released a promo single and video for "Bad Gyal" and in August released her 2nd promo single and video for "Feel It", both lifted off her EP entitled Pink Mist produced by her producer LzBeatz.

In April and Sept 2012, Shystie released two mixtapes, "Gold Dust Vol.1" and the follow up 16 track mixtape enttled Gold Dust Vol.2, which received mixtape of the week on Radio One and gained over 40,000 downloads to date.

In July, Azealia Banks took to twitter to announce that herself and Shystie had collaborated on a track called "Neptune" taken from Ms Banks debut Mixtape "Fantasea", the song has gained 126,324 plays since its first upload on Azealias sound cloud.

In August Shystie also tweeted that she would be modelling on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week and also dropped a brand new track called "Control It" again for the second time featuring Azealia Banks which got its first airplay on the 28th August on Radio 1xtra by Mista Jam. This track is taken from her new mixtape Gold Dust Vol.2 which was released on the 21st Sept 2012.

In February 2013 Shystie modelled at London Fashion week. March 2013, Shystie and Azealia Banks went from friends to enemies after Azealia posted on Twitter that Shystie and Azealia's "Control It" video was "bogus" and "not Azealia", Shystie also dropped a diss track directed at Banks called "Doppelganger". The track replaced "Control It" as the third track on Pink Mist.

On April 28th 2013, Shystie released her EP independently through her in house team 'Starwork Music' entitled 'PINK MIST' via iTunes which debuted at number 4 in the charts. She is currently working on her new project.
