The École pour l'informatique et les nouvelles technologies (EPITECH) also called European Institute of Technology[2] is a private institution of higher education in general computer science that was created in 1999[3] and has been recognized by the French state[4][5] The school is located at Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, Bordeaux, Rennes, Marseille, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Nancy, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg and Toulouse[6][6]

In September 2013, the university will open a new campus in Beijing and in 2014 three others in California, United Kingdom and Spain.[7]

EPITECH delivers a five-year program split in two parts: the first three years corresponds to a Bachelor in computer science[8] and the last 2 years to expert in information technology[9][10]

The school has the particularity to teach with practical cases instead of theoretical.[11]

A "practical cases" university

EPITECH has been created in 1999, taking advantage of the keen interest of the École Pour l'Informatique et les Techniques Avancées to train students without a scientific background. The university is part of IONIS Education Group.

The state recognition and new campuses out of Paris

In 2007, EPITECH opened new campuses in Casablanca, Dalian, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Strasbourg and Toulouse. Since January 2008, the degree delivered has been recognized by the Commission nationale de la certification professionnelle,[9] as level 1.[12] In 2008, the campuses of Nice, Montpellier, Nancy, Marseille and Rennes were opened. Since 2009, the school has been recognized by the French State.[4]

New campuses abroad

In September 2013, EPITECH opened a campus in Beijing, China. In September 2014, the school will open in California, United Kingdom and Spain.[13]

EPITECH is a partner of the Zup de Co association to create the Web@cademie, a 2-year training completely free for students without the French Baccalaureate and with a strong motivation in computer science.[14] This course has the goal to give a job of software developer for young people who has stopped the regular studies.[15] They are trained by EPITECH teachers at Le Kremlin-Bicêtre[16] and at Lyon.[17]
