All Tibetan names have a meaning in the Tibetan language. Some of the most common names are listed here with their transcription and meaning.

བསྟན་འཛིན་ bstan 'dzin Stanzin, Tenzin(g) holder of the teaching[1]
རྒྱ་མཚོ་ rgya mtsho Gyatso ocean[2]
སྐག་བཟང་ skal bzang Skalzang, Kelsang good fortune, good luck, golden age, (a flower)[3]
ཉི་མ་ nyi ma Nyima, Nima sun, day[4]
རྡོ་རྗེ་ rdo rdje Dorje indestructable, invincible, Vajra [5]
དབྱངས་མཚོ་ dbyangs mtsho Yangtsho, Yangtso harmony[6] + lake/ocean[7]
བསམ་གཏན་ bsam gtan Samten concentration[8]
ལྷ་མོ་ lha mo Lhamo princess, lady, goddess, Tibetan opera, opera [9]
