Excerpt: The provinces of Ranong, Pharig-nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun face the Andaman Sea and have a total coastline of about 700 km (Figure 8). Approximately 100,000 m2 constitutes the narrow sea shelf, which is about 108 km wide in the north (Ranong Province), narrows down to 27 km in the middle (Phuket Province) and widens again to about 130 km in the south (Satun Province).
