Hampstead Academy

Coordinates: 42°51′58″N 71°08′47″W / 42.86611°N 71.14639°W / 42.86611; -71.14639 Hampstead Academy is an independent school situated on a wooded 9-acre (36,000 m2) campus in southern New Hampshire. Established in 1978, Hampstead Academy is approved by the New Hampshire State Department of Education and Health and Human Services, and is fully accredited by New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The school has active memberships in the Independent School Association of Northern New England, the New Hampshire Science Teachers Association and the Independent Schools of Northern New England. Located on 320 East Road, Hampstead, the school serves students in Preschool through Grade 8.

The school is currently operating at full capacity with approximately 210 students, 180 attending Grades 1-8 and 30 attending preschool and kindergarten. The majority of Hampstead Academy students reside within a radius of approximately 25 miles (40 km) of the school, including more than 30 New Hampshire and Massachusetts towns.

  • Technology - is intergrated throughout the curriculum with emphasis on research/media fluency, digital citizenship, programming concepts, internet use and safety, databases, video production, keyboarding, word processing and innovation
  • Creative Arts - Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Music, Chorus, Orchestra
  • Foreign Language - Spanish, Chinese, Latin
  • Library - Literacy, Research Skills, Storytelling
  • Physical Education - Health and Nutrition, Fitness, Sports, Personal Development
  • Electives - Crafts, Running, Yoga, Orienteering, Math Counts, Math League, Improv

Athletics

Hampstead Academy offers a variety of in-school and after-school sports activities. The program includes Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Cross Country, Swimming, Skiing, Fencing, Volleyball and Golf. In all cases, cooperative team spirit and physical fitness are primary goals.

Enrichment programs

Throughout the year, after-school enrichment activities and sports are offered for students' interest and enjoyment. Some of the activities take place on school grounds, while others are at off-campus locations. Hampstead Academy's after-school sports program includes intramural sports, soccer, baseball, cross country, swimming, basketball, skiing and golf. Other enrichment programs offered include SSAT preparation, Improvisational theatre, Drama Club, Student Council, Yearbook Club, Chinese Club, Destination ImagiNation, Lego League, Orchestra, Select Chorus and Instrument lessons.
